Owls are a type of nocturnal bird of prey. They are distinguished from other such birds by their enlarged cranium and binocular vision. Plus, they have that ability to turn their head around 360 degrees, which is just freakin' creepy.
On the original ThunderCats cartoon series, Snarf ran past an owl in the forests surrounding Cats' Lair and was frightened by it. This was due largely to his already accelerated anxiety at seeing Mumm-Ra take mental possession of his friends. This particular owl had glowing red eyes, implying that it too might have been an agent of Mumm-Ra. [1]
- There have been two owls associated with the comic book character of Doctor Mid-Nite. The first was Hooty, who was the pet sidekick of the original Doctor Mid-Nite, Charles McNider. The second was Charlie, who was named after McNider, and was the pet of his successor, Pieter Cross.
