Biography[]
Owen Thurman was a student at Sunnydale High School. He met Buffy Summers in the school library one day while looking to replace his book on Emily Dickinson. Buffy, desperate to find some semblance of a normal life outside of killing vampires, was instantly attracted to Owen and the two began dating. Buffy's rival however, Cordelia Chase, could not abide seeing Buffy happy in any way whatsoever and did everything she could to sabotage her relationship with Owen, even manipulating him into dancing with her at The Bronze.
Despite her best efforts, Buffy was constantly diverted from seeing Owen due to her responsibilities as a Slayer. Through happenstance, Owen found himself drawn into Buffy's world and learned that there was much more to the plucky blonde-haired girl than met the eye. Rather than act repulsed however, Owen was exhilarated to see that Buffy led such an exciting lifestyle. He was nearly killed by a vampire named Andrew Borba at the Sunnydale Funeral Home, but harbored no regrets. He was hungry to go out with her on more adventures. In a rare act of maturity during this formative Slayer years, Buffy realized that she could not risk having Owen as a part of her world any longer and the two broke up.
