"The Origin of Species" is the the twenty-third episode of season four of the 1995 iteration of the science fiction anthology series The Outer Limits. It is the eighty-fourth episode in the series overall. The episode was directed by Brad Turner with a teleplay written by Naren Shankar based on a story treatment by Shankar and Jonathan Glassner. It first aired on Showtime on Friday, November 27th, 1998.
