"New Lease" is the eleventh episode of season three of the 1995 relaunch of the science fiction anthology series The Outer Limits and the fifty-fourth episode of the series overall. It was directed by Jason Priestley with a script written by Sam Egan. It first aired on Showtime on Friday, March 21st, 1997.

- Stephen Lang, who plays the lead role of Doctor James Houghton in this episode, is best remembered by modern audiences as Colonel Miles Quaritch, the central antagonist from James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar.
- Director Jason Priestley, who also plays Anthony Szigetti in this episode, is better known for his work in front of the camera than behind the camera. Priestley became an iconic television actor of the 1990s with his portrayal of good-natured teenager Brandon Walsh on the smash WB Network television series Beverly Hills 90210. Priestley is also known for his portrayal of Jack Harper in the Tru Calling television series. He also played the role Jack Coker in the 2009 remake of Day of the Triffids.
- Actress Britt Irvin also appeared in the season 7 episode "Mind Reacher". Her first sci-fi work was playing young Gail Bradford in the "Passed Imperfect" episode of the short-lived sci-fi series Sleepwalkers. Britt then went on to play Merrin in the "Learning Curve" episode of Stargate SG-1 as well as Nina Toth in the "Charlie and Lisa" episode of the Steven Spielberg miniseries Taken. In 2009 she played Haley Stark in the first three episodes of the V relaunch series.
