Out of This World is a British science fiction anthology series made by ABC Television and broadcast from June 30th to September 22nd, 1962, spanning a total of fourteen episodes. The show was hosted by British actor and silver screen horror icon Boris Karloff. Many of the episodes were adaptations of stories by science fiction writers including Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick and Clifford D. Simak. The series is generally seen as a precursor to the BBC science fiction anthology series Out of the Unknown.
The series was developed by producer Leonard White, whose previous works included Armchair Mystery Theatre and The Avengers while the creative drive behind the program was from story editor Irene Shubik who would later go on to produce Out of the Unknown. "Little Lost Robot" is the only known episode to survive today. It was common practice among British broadcasters at the time to wipe their episodes after their initial broadcast.
