An optic blast is a concentrated dosage of energy that is projected from one's eyes. The Marvel Comics superhero Scott Summers, aka Cyclops possesses an optic blast of concussive force powerful enough to level mountanis. Cyclops has minimal control over being able to contain his blast. If his eyes are open, he will perpetually project energy until his power exhausts itself, making him a clear and present threat to nearly everyone around him. To control this, Cyclops wears a special visor (as well as eyeglasses) fitted with lenses comprised of ruby quartz, which appears to be the only element capable of rendering his optic energy inert. The visor that he wears allows him to adjust the range and intensity of his blast. He can either release it as standard-sized ray (approximately 12 inches in width), or as a wide, sweeping blast, or as a pencil-thin laser.
Another character who possesses an optic blast is the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe character Tri-Klops. This clown wears headgear outfitted with three artificial eyes; each one granting him a different type of vision power. In the 1983 animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Tri-Klops had a laser setting, which could be accessed throughout whichever was the operative eye-piece being used at the time (which was always at the front of his head).
