History[]

Oolong Island is an island in the Yellow Sea off the west coast of North Korea. [1] During the Cold War, Oolong was a Protectorate of People's Republic of China, it was later granted sovereign nation status. [2]

The Island was originally commanded and controlled by the mutated Chinese scientist known as Chang Tzu, who used this isolated corner of the sea as a base of operations for other criminal scientists. Over the years, Oolong Island became a haven for various intellectually unorthodox masterminds to develop in their chosen specialties. Among his many infamous tenants were: T.O. Morrow, T.B. Sivana, Ira "I.Q." Quimby, Doctor Tyme, and Doctor Cyclops.

At the same time, Chang Tzu was a member of the Great Ten, China's metahuman defenders. Oolong Island was a Red Chinese stronghold. Under orders from Beijing, Chang Tzu was utilizing Intergang money to design and build doomsday weapons for use against the Black Marvel Family. [3] This activity culminated in one week of world-wide superhuman warfare.

Oolong Island later became its own sovereign nation, and for some time it was ruled by President Veronica Cale, and still gave sanctuary to the many "mad scientists" to survive the WWIII.

Some time after that, the Doom Patrol took over Oolong Island as their new Headquarters. [4]
