Penny Dreadful[]
Oliver Cromwell's actions from the 17th century were referenced on the Showtime series Penny Dreadful. According to a witch known as Joan Clayton, Cromwell came to a cottage she was residing at on Ballentree Moor in the West Country in 1644. He had fallen out of favor with the royalists, and Clayton offered him succor. As reward for her aide, he gave her the rights to the cottage and the lands surrounding it. [1]
Notes[]
- Oliver Cromwell was identified only as "Cromwell" on Penny Dreadful.
- Joan Clayton later recounted her meeting with Cromwell to Vanessa Ives, noting that he was an ugly man with warts on his face.
