Biography[]
Octavia Putney was a middle-aged business woman who lived in London, England in the latter half of the 19th century. She had a husband named Oscar, and a blind daughter named Lavinia.
Although Oscar busied himself with the day-to-day affairs of the museum, Octavia took a behind-the-scenes approach to the business, and handled matters of money. She was actually the dominant force in the business, though Oscar was the public face of the museum. Octavia was reluctant to have Oscar hire John Clare to work at the museum, owing largely to the man's facial disfigurement. Octavia conceded to giving John the job, but privately expressed her concerns to Oscar, telling him that Clare's scarred face would drive away customers. [1]
