Oakland is an American city in the US state of California. It is the county seat of Alameda County.

On the 1974 Planet of the Apes television series, time-displaced fugitives Alan Virdon and Peter Burke found themselves in the ruins of 31st century Oakland. They discovered a holographic projector that told of a buried site contained knowledge of the world that had been buried in anticipation of the apocalypse that ended human rule. It was their hope that if they could elude their gorilla pursuers long enough to repair the ancient projector, the film would tell them why their world was destroyed. [1]

On Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Cameron Phillips learned about a shipment of Coltan that had been re-routed from Oakland to the Port of Los Angeles. Cameron, Sarah Connor and John Connor sneaked into the port warehouse only to find that the regular workers had been replaced with mercenaries employed by a Terminator. They hijacked numerous crates of Coltan - enough to create 539 Terminator units. [2]

In a science fiction story called "Preservation of the Species" by Bruce Jones, Oakland was the site of the Prozi-Reynolds, Inc., which was a futuristic scientific research firm that performed genetic experiments that yielded a generation of mutant children. [3]

In Marvel Comics continuity, a boy named Mickey Walker, who grew up in Centerville, ended up moving to Oakland.
