O.M.A.C.s are a type of fictional cyborg that serve as central antagonists in comic books published by DC Comics. They first appeared in The OMAC Project #1 in June, 2005.
History[]
O.M.A.C. stands for Omni-Mind and Community. They were cybernetic organisms that were originally developed by the United States Department of Defense as a nanotechnology virus, which was reversed engineered from technology developed by Brainiac-13. The government, working with LexCorp, introduced the virus into random vaccine supplies. The O.M.A.C. Project was established as a means of culling metahumans from the general population. The nanotechnological components of the O.M.A.C.s worked in coordination with the Brother Eye satellite system, which was actually invented by Bruce Wayne, though Wayne played no part in how it was used to control the O.M.A.C.s Those infected with the virus were converted into cybernetic beings that had a built-in program to assassinate metahumans.
