The Nova Corps is a fictional space agency featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are associated with the Nova line of comic titles and first appeared in Fantastic Four, Volume 1 #205 in April, 1979.
Overview[]
The Nova Corps is an intergalactic law-enforcement agency and military organization that governs and protects the interests of the planet Xandar and the rest of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Nova Corps spun out of the Xandarian StarCorps and is led by an officer under the title of Nova Prime. The original Corps consisted of several divisions ranging from Syfon warriors, to Corpsmen to Centurions, and ultimately, Nova Prime or Prime Commandant. There is a black ops regiment of the Nova Corps called the Supernovas, which were pressed into service following the actions of rogue Nova Corps member Jesse Alexander.
The power that governs the Nova Corps is called the Nova Force and is supplied by a sentient super-computer network system called the Xandarian Worldmind. The Worldmind contained all knowledge of Xandarian history and culture.
History[]
The Nova Corps played a large role in the Annihilation War, which was spear-headed by Annihilus and involved a massive invasion into Xandarian territory from the Negative Zone. When the Annihilation Wave destroyed the Kyln, the Nova Corps were assembled to face the oncoming threat, but were decimated in the ensuing incident. The Xandarian Worldmind was taken offline.
