North Salem is a town located in the northeastern region of Westchester County in the US state of New York. In speculative fiction, North Salem is where the community of Salem Center is located, which is home to the superhero team, the X-Men, who live and work out of the mansion home of the founder, Professor Charles Xavier at 1407 Graymalkin Lane. Professor Xavier renovated his family's home into a school designed to train mutants dubbed Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
