Newfoundland is a province of the country of Canada in North America. In Marvel Comics continuity, Newfoundland is the home of the Smallwood family, which includes Gladys, Tom and Dan Smallwood. Tom Smallwood was a fisherman who discovered an alien egg that birthed a female being later named Marrina. Marrina was of a race called the Plodex and had bonded to Tom's wife, Gladys, and taken on a semi-humanoid form. Tom and Gladys raised Marrina as their foster child.
