Overview[]
The so-called "New" Invaders were the modern-era incarnation of the notable World War II-era fighting team, the Invaders. They were actually founded as part of a grand scheme instigated by Johann Shmidt, the Red Skull, who intended on using them for his own nefarious purposes. Shmidt, disguised as Secretary of Defense Dell Rusk, forced Bruce Dickson, formerly known as the Thin Man, to put together a new team of Invaders, whose identifies and/or abilities were reflective of the original line-up, which included original founding members Human Torch (Jim Hammond) and the Sub-Mariner. Other members included U.S. Agent, the Blonde Phantom, the Blazing Skull, Spitfire (another WWII legacy), Aarkus the Vision, the flaming synthezoid Invader-1, and Joey Chapman - the third Union Jack.
