The New Gods is an American ongoing comic book series of the superhero fantasy and science fiction genres. It was published by DC Comics from February 1989 to August 1991, and spanned a total of twenty-eight issues. This is the third series to bear the title of New Gods, and the second ongoing series. It could be argued however, that New Gods, Volume 1 and Return of the New Gods are two separate titles, but one is just a numeric extension of the other. Volume two was a six-limited series that reprinted stories from volume one.
