The Negative Zone portal is an invention of Reed Richards. It was designed as a spatial gateway into subspace, but was the configured to work as a permanent doorway into the Negative Zone. Reed and his colleagues in the Fantastic Four could observe events taking place in the Negative Zone by way of the Visi-scanner.
