Nebulons is a phrase used to describe a type of fictional alien featured in the Godzilla film series. They appeared in the 1972 film Godzilla vs. Gigan.
Description[]
Nebulons are a sentient insectoid race that hail from an unnamed planet in the M Space Hunter Nebula. Their race possesses a technological acumen that is more advanced than planet Earth's. They are capable of interstellar travel, mechanical engineering and advanced mathematics.
History[]
The Nebulons were a slowly dying race whose own homeworld was becoming uninhabitable due to millions of years worth of pollution and abuse. Seeking a new world in which to thrive and prosper, they came to the planet Earth. A self-appointed Chairman and Director assumed the identities of two Earthlings who had died in 1971 - Fumio Sudo and Kubota. In these guises, they embarked upon a strategy of "ultimate peace", which culminated in the construction of the World Children's Land theme park in Tokyo, Japan. The park included a life-size statue of Godzilla, which housed Godzilla Tower. The Nebulons kidnapped a human named Takashi Shima to help them facilitate their grand design.
Sudo and Kubota recorded special frequencies onto two action tapes that were connected to transmission devices housed within the head of Godzilla Tower. By activating these devices, they were able to summon and control two space monsters - Ghidorah and Gigan and bring them to Earth with the intent of having them destroy all humanity.
The monsters arrived, but found themselves at odds with two other kaiju - the Earth defenders known as Godzilla and Anguirus. A team of humans, consisting of Gengo Kotaka, Tomoko Tomoe, Shosaku Takasugi, and Takashi's sister, Machiko Shima, managed to expose the aliens and detonated explosives in the control room of Godzilla Tower. The explosion succeeded in not only cancelling the mind-controlling radio waves governing Ghidorah and Gigan, but also killed the two Nebulons. [1]
A short while later, a subterranean race from Earth known as the Seatopians somehow made contact with existing Nebulons. They asked for their permission to borrow Gigan for another battle on Earth. The Nebulons apparently acquiesced and sent Gigan back to Earth. [2]
