A Nazi is someone who was a member of the National Socialist party in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Brought together by an ambitious young Austrian named Adolf Hitler, they were responsible for some pretty messed up stuff, which ultimately resulted in a big ole brouhaha called World War II. In addition to taking complete control over Germany and shaking their swastikas, they were also responsible for the persecution, imprisonment and murder of millions of Jewish citizens as well as other cultures. Hitler held onto this crazy idea that all of humanity were destined to be led by a master race of 6'0" blonde-haired, blue-eyed Aryans. Hitler's fascist totalitarian stance, as well as the actions of the men who followed him, begat a movement known as the Third Reich.

Nazis have been portrayed in many types of speculative fiction. They are always presented as antagonists in fiction stories, whose evil intents are sometimes enhanced by elements of fantasy, scientific wizardry or the occult. Such themes have been presented in films like the Indiana Jones film series as well as TV shows and comic books. Science fiction will often employ time travel plot lines which involve one or more protagonists traveling backward in time to the 1930s to deal with Hitler and his gang of rascals. These stories have appeared in episodes of Star Trek, Timecop and even Doctor Who. The entire first season of Wonder Woman took place in the year 1942, with Nazi villains appearing in nearly every episode. The 2011 feature film, Captain America: The First Avenger dealt with America's efforts to combat the Nazi menace, which took form in the gruesome visage of a character known as the Red Skull.
