The Mytaranor Sector is a fictional region of space featured in the Star Wars franchise. It is best known for being the location of the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. The Mytaranor Sector made it's unofficial debut in the quasi-canonical 1978 telemovie The Star Wars Holiday Special when the Millennium Falcon is first seen flying towards Kashyyyk. It was first identified by name in Star Wars Gamer #4. A diagram of the Mytaranor Sector was presented in Star Wars: The Complete Atlas.
Description[]
The Mytaranor Sector was located in the Mid Rim territories and consisted of ten stellar systems, most of which only contained one Type-1 planet within them. Numerous trade routes have been formed which ran through the Mytaranor Sector throughout the long, extended history of the Galaxy dating as far back as the Rakatan Empire. The Mytaranor Sector was located at the edge of the Mid Rim and Expansion region and was bordered by the Trax Sector, the Lantillian Sector, the Taldot Sector, the Halla Sector and the Kastolar Sector.
History[]
During the Jedi Civil War, the Mytaranor Sector was the site of several battles, which were waged in the Randon System and the Kashyyyk System. The planets Kashyyyk, Trandosha and Alaris all played key roles in the New Sith Wars, during which the Trandoshan capital city of Hsskhor was destroyed.
Alaris Prime and Kashyyyk played a vital role during the Clone Wars as well. In 19 BBY, the Confederacy of Independent Systems sent the Separatist Droid Army to secure the planet Kashyyyk in one of the final battles of the war. The battle ended on the day that Chancellor Palpatine initiated Order 66, branding the Jedi Order as traitors and reforming the Galactic Republic into the First Galactic Empire. [1][2]
In 1 ABY, Han Solo and Chewbacca journeyed through the Mytaranor Sector to Kashyyyk so that Chewbacca could celebrate Life Day with his family. They were pursued Darth Vader who sent a landing party to the forest world to capture them. [3]
