Mysterious Island is a fifteen-chapter film serial, which is an adaptation of the 1874 novel Mysterious Island by author Jules Verne. The serial was directed by Spencer Bennet with a screenplay written by Lewis Clay, Royal K. Cole and George H. Plympton. The series was produced by Sam Katzman Productions. It was distributed theatrically by Columbia Pictures and screened from August 23rd to September 13th, 1951.

The events of this film are supposed to take place after 20,000 Leagues, even though the events of that story occurred in 1866, less than a year after the events of this story.
