Biography[]
Myrra Rhodes was a red-headed plastic surgeon who was operating in the European theater during World War II. Following an incident with Nazi soldiers, the U.S. Army contingent known as the Creature Commandos brought their superior officer Lieutenant Matthew Shrieve into the hospital where Myrra worked after he had been injured. Rhodes was able to repair the damage done to Shrieve's face, making him look just as he had before. The other Creature Commandos held onto hope that she might be able to do the same for them, but Myrra told them that she could not make them look normal. Downtrodden and spurned on by Shrieve's cruel taunts, the Creature Commandos violently rampaged to get out of the hospital. In their rage, they upset some canisters containing dangerous chemicals. Doctor Rhodes was exposed to the escaping gasses, which turned her hair into a bed of snakes - like a veritable gorgon. Now considering herself a "freak" like the others, she joined the group as the first female member of the Creature Commandos. [1]
