"Understudy" is the tenth episode of season two of the Canadian superhero action series Mutant X, and the thirty-second episode of the series overall. It was directed by John Bell with a script written by Darrell Fetty. It first aired in syndication on January 13th, 2003.
In this episode, Shalimar Fox is injured in the field and reunites with a familiar face - Nikki Rodgers. Nikki is a feral mutant, whom Adam Kane once considered for membership on the team. Before long, Kane's failure with Nikki becomes apparent as the team learns that she was the one who injured Shalimar in the first place.
