History[]

Murszolzny was a small village nestled within the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania not far from Castle Dracula. In 1962, a young artist named Bruce Shawcross traveled to Murszolzny to spend time in the local forest and paint some of the surroundings. One evening, a came upon a beautiful red-haired woman in a cemetery named Irina. Irina was a vampire, and the niece of Count Dracula. She seduced Bruce and ultimately turned him into a vampire as well.

The Mayor of Murszolzny, Miklos Sombolnok, telegrammed Bruce's father, Sir Basil Shawcross, informing him that his son had died. Basil had received letters from his son, that told of Irina, and he fell into great despair. He sought aid from his colleague, Janos Tesla, and asked him about local superstitions concerning vampires. Tesla warned him not to dismiss such stories as mere fantasy, and exclaimed that the threat of vampires was very real.

Sir Basil Shawcross decided to make the journey to Murszolzny to recover his son's body. Suspicious that dark forces might be at play, Janos Tesla followed him. They met with Mayor Sombolnok, who told Basil that his son's body had never been recovered.

A pipe-smoking innkeeper named Bela Dragovnik invited Sir Basil to stay at his inn, which was the same inn that Bruce had occupied prior to his disappearance. Basil insisted on staying in the same room that his son had been in. Inside, he found a painting that Bruce had rendered of Irina, but was aghast by the woman's monstrous features.

That evening, Bruce appeared to his father in his room. Basil was elated fore he believed that news of his son's death was now proven to be untrue. He had never considered that his son was now a vampire. Bruce beckoned his father to meet his new bride, Irina, and together they left Murszolzny to visit Irina's uncle at Castle Dracula. [1]
