History[]
Murkhana City is the capital city of the planet Murkhana in the Auril sector of the Murkhana star system. It is a lush, forested world and the home of the Koorivar species. During the Clone Wars, Murkhana City was the headquarters of the Corporate Alliance, led by Koorivar magistrate Passel Argente. The Corporate Alliance, and by extension the planet Murkhana as a whole, were members of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The city was an opulant and hedonistic domain of luxurious housing complexes and business centers, towering spiral-cut office building that seemed to be grown from ocean coral, and exclusive medical centers catering only to the most affluent of citizens. Passel Argente's personal family suite was Argente Tower, located in the heart of the city.
The city became a focal point for the Battle of Murkhana, one of the last battles in the Outer Rim sieges to take place in the final weeks of the Clone Wars. One of the primary objectives of the battle involved a contingent of clone trooper commandos and several Jedi Knights disabling the deflector shield generator to a landing platform thereby allowing Republic gunships to secure a beachhead between the perimeter of the city and Murkhana Bay. It was during this battle that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine executed Order 66, a directive that had been put into place in the eventuality that the Jedi Order should ever turn against the Republic. While some of the clone troopers station in Murkhana City sought to follow the order and kill their Jedi colleagues, others were suspicious of the validity of the order and refused to take up arms against the Jedi.
