History[]
Murkhana is an inhabited planet located in the Auril sector of the Outer Rim Territories. It was a host world, inhabited by several different species, the most prominent of which were the Koorivar. During the Clone Wars, it had aligned itself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems and was the headquarters of the Corporate Alliance. It's capital is Murkhana City - a crescent-shaped domain of hedonism and oppulance, located in the forested hills that surrounded Murkhana Bay. One of the more notable structures in the city was Argente Tower - home to former Galactic Senator and Corporate Alliance magistrate Passel Argente, who also served on the Separatist Council during the Clone Wars. In addition to it's commerce institutions, Murkhana also hosted one of the largest communication centers in all of the Outer Rim Territories. Throughout the duration of the war, they were the primary source for spreading Separatist propaganda to both CIS and Republic worlds by way of "shadowfeeds".
Shortly following the death of Separatist leader Count Dooku in 19 BBY, the Republic High Command gave Murkhana two weeks to surrender their forces. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine believed it was more important to win the hearts and minds of Separatist worlds before resorting to immediate miliary action. When Murkhana refused to surrender however, the Grand Army of the Republic sent the 32nd Air Combat Wing as well as a contingent of Jedi knights, which included Roan Shryne, Olee Starstone, Bol Chatak and Saras Loorne, to force their surrender. Fifty Low Altitude Assault Transports were deployed from the Republic Star Destroyer Gallant and mounted a beach assault to take down the capital city's deflector shields. Historically, this engagement became known as the Battle of Murkhana.
