Notes & Trivia[]

  • The tagline for this film is "The Curse of an Evil Love Entombed in a Deathless Killer! Lusting Demon of Doom!"
  • There are a total of twelve credited cast members in this film.
  • Production on The Mummy's Curse began on June 26th, 1944. Principal filming concluded in August, 1944.
  • This movie is included in the The Mummy: The Legacy Collection DVD boxset by Universal Studios Home Entertainment. It was released in Region 1 format on October 19th, 2004.
  • This is the final film in the "Mummy" line from the Universal Monsters brand of horror films. It is the fifth film in the overall franchise, and the fourth film to feature Kharis as the primary antagonist. It is the third and final film to feature Lon Chaney, Jr. in the role of Kharis.
  • This is the final appearance of Kharis in a film produced by Universal Pictures. A version of Kharis is featured in the 1959 film The Mummy produced by Hammer Film Productions.
  • This movie serves as a direct sequel to The Mummy's Ghost, which was released the same year. However, whereas the last two films are firmly established in the fictional Mapleton in Massachusetts, this film is clearly set in the Southern United States. Given the Cajun accent spoken by several of the supplementary characters, it is fair to assume that it takes place in the state of Louisiana. No explanation is given for this change in venue, but the mummies of Kharis and Ananka rise from the same swamp that they were submerged in from the previous film.
  • The character of Cajun Joe states that the events of The Mummy's Ghost took place twenty-five years ago. The Mummy's Ghost took place thirty years after the events of The Mummy's Hand, which is clearly established as having taken place in 1940, the year in which it was released. This means that the events of The Mummy's Curse take place in the year 1995! Fashion styles and technology presented in the film are still very much akin to that of the 1940s.
  • Ilzor Zandaab states that Tana leaves come from the Tana tree. However, Yousef Bey from The Mummy's Ghost states that they come from a bush.
  • Though it is never addressed in this film, the physical body of Princess Ananka is actually that of Amina Mansouri from The Mummy's Ghost. The spirit of Princess Ananka took possession of her form in that movie. No explanation is given as to why Ananka/Mansouri is still alive twenty-five years later given that she was buried beneath the swamp mud without the benefit of being fed Tana leaf extract. It is also never explained why she emerges with mummy wrappings. In The Mummy's Ghost, Kharis just walked into the swamp with Ananka/Mansouri in the attire that she was wearing at the time.
  • In The Mummy's Ghost, Princess Ananka/Amina Mansouri was played by actress Ramsay Ames. Here she is played by Virginia Christine.
