Mount Kilimanjaro is a mountain located in the country of Tanzania. It is the largest mountain in Africa with an elevation of 5,895 miles. It is a dormant volcano with three volcanic cones named Kibo, Shira, and Mawenzi.
In DC Comics continuity, ranger Michael Payson Maxwell and his college friend Rupert Kenboya of the Zambesi tribe crashed their aircraft on Mount Kilimanjaro as a result of a violent storm. Rubert fed Maxwell special medicinal water that gave him an enhanced physique along with additional strength and stamina. A gorilla named Djuba gave Maxwell a special helmet that allowed him to communicate with animals. Mike became a hero of the Zambesi Game Preserve calling himself B'wana Beast.
