Mother is any sentient being or animal that produces and/or raises offspring. This includes humans, aliens, alien creatures and even turtles. In 99.9999% of all births, the mother is usually female. However, some species reproduce asexually.
Mother can also be used as a title. Female members of the clergy who are in charge of nuns are regarded by the title Mother Superior. For reasons unknown, these women tend to be mean old embittered bitches that have the magical ability to inspire terror in all those around them.
A modern re-interpretation and phonetic pronunciation of the term is "mutha", which is short for "muthafucka", which is a gender-neutral vulgar expletive. One need not be female to be classified as one bad mutha.
"Mother" was also the name of the computer system aboard the space freighter U.S.S. Nostromo in the 1979 film, Alien. In the film, Mother had been pre-programmed with a set of secret parameters that would allow for the sacrifice of the ship's crew in order to smuggle back a species of parasitic alien embryos called Xenomorphs.
