Biography[]

Lorn was an adult male member of the Lurian race. He was a frequent patron at Quark's on space station Deep Space Nine. To outward appearances, it seemed as if Morn was a being of few words, but to those who knew him best, he was said to be quite chatty.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The character of Morn was created by director David Carson and teleplay writers and producers Rick Berman and Michael Piller based on concepts originally developed by Gene Roddenberry.
  • Appeared in the pilot episodes of both Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.
  • Although he is only a background character in the series, Morn has made ninety-one appearances through the course of seven seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
  • Morn's name is actually "Norm" spelled backwards. This is a reference to the character of Norm Peterson, the affable beer-swilling bar patron played by George Wendt in the popular sitcom series Cheers. A recurring gag on the show was that the other characters would shout out "Norm!" in unison whenever he entered the bar. Other notable Star Trek actors who appeared on the series include Kirstie Alley and Kelsey Grammer.
  • Another Lurian of note is Ra'Chet'Ka, a male Lurian who appeared in the short story "Foundlings", which appeared in the novel Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Prophecy and Change.
