- The character of Ted Sallis, aka the Man-Thing was created by writers Roy Thomas & Gerry Conway and artist Gray Morrow. He first appeared in the third story in Savage Tales #1 in May, 1971. Most of the early Man-Thing stories following his inaugural appearance were written by Steve Gerber.
- Frankenstein, and all related characters, are based on concepts developed by English author Mary Shelley's as presented in her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. The Frankenstein story has since been adapted and expanded upon in numerous films, novels, comic books and television projects.
- This issue shipped to retailers on February 12th, 1974.
- "All the Faces of Fear" is reprinted in Monsters Unleashed Annual #1, as well as the Essential Man-Thing, Volume 1 trade paperback collection, published in November, 2006. It is also reprinted in full color in the Man-Thing Omnibus hardcover collection in October, 2012 as well as the Man-Thing by Steve Gerber: The Complete Collection, Volume 1, published in October, 2015.
