Mon-El is a fictional alien super-hero and a supporting character featured on the CW Network television series Supergirl. Played by actor Chris Wood, he first appeared in the season two premiere episode, "The Adventures of Supergirl".

Biography[]

Mon-El was a humanoid alien and a member of the Daxamite race of the planet Daxam, which was a sister world to Krypton. Like Krypton, Daxam was destroyed, and the members of the royal family made certain that they could escape. Most Daxamites blamed Krypton for their own world's destruction.

Mon-El was the prince of Daxam, and the son of Lar Gand and Rhea. Wishing to get away from his royal lineage, he took a shuttlecraft, which ended up coming to Earth and crashing in the town of Midvale. Supergirl discovered Mon-El and brought him to the D.E.O. headquarters in National City. Mon-El enjoyed the sanctuary provided by the D.E.O., but now had to find a way to fit in with the rest of humanity. Supergirl tried training him, and their relationship was very tense, as each harbored age-old racial grudges against the other. In time however, the two warmed to one another and even became romantically involved.

Lar Gand and Rhea came to Earth to reclaim Mon-El, which is when Supergirl learned that he was more than just a Daxamite refugee -- he was the Prince. Rhea headed up an invasion force designed to terraform the planet so that it would be suitable for Daxamites. Doing so however, meant that the indiginous population - humans - had to be extinguished.

Supergirl collaborated with Lena Luthor to create a device that would make Earth's atmosphere intolerable to Daxamites. Doing so however, meant that Mon-El would be forced to leave Earth. There was no other recourse however, and Lena Luthor activated the device. Mon-El took his ship and left Earth and Supergirl behind.
