- The character of Mitchell Bueller was created by writer Mark Verheiden and artist Den Beauvais.
- In the original Aliens, Volume 2 limited series, Bueller was named "Butler". However, in the novelization of the sequel story, Aliens: Earth Hive, the character's name was changed to Mitch Bueller. No explanation is provided for this change.
