Notes & Trivia[]
- Mister Miracle was created by writer and artist Jack Kirby.
- The tagline to this issue is "American Dreams -- American Nightmares".
- This is the first appearance of Andy & Wally, who are two teenage boys that live in Bailey, New Hampshire. They both appear next in issue #4.
- This is the first appearance of Ed and Kathleen "Kathy" Ferbel, who are Scott Free's and Big Barda's next door neighbors. They both appear next in issue #2.
- Editor Andrew Helfer is credited as "Handy Dandy Andy Helfer" in this issue.
- Oberon makes reference to Leave It to Beaver in this issue. Leave It to Beaver was an American television sitcom that ran on CBS, and later ABC from 1957 to 1963. Reference is made to both Beaver Cleaver and the character of Eddie Haskell.
- The character of Andy refers to Oberon as a Smurf. The Smurfs is a Belgian comic strip created by Peyo. It yielded two animated programs, as well as numerous tie-in projects as well as a series of computer animated feature films. Andy is making a derogatory remark about Oberon's height by comparing him to a Smurf.
- Andy also pokes fun at Oberon's height by comparing him to a Hobbit. Hobbits are fictional creatures, short in stature, and can be found in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and his "Middle Earth" mythology including The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion. Andy mis-pronounces Tolkien's name as "Tekin" in this issue.
- This issue includes a flashback to when Scott Free first met Thaddeus Brown - the previous Mister Miracle. This took place in Mister Miracle #1 in April, 1971.
- Mister Miracle first had to deal with Doctor Bedlam and his Animates back in Mister Miracle #3.
- Scott Free makes reference to having recently been a prisoner of Granny Goodness over in Justice League International #21.
