"Murder Missile Trap!"[]
The New God known as Scott Free is on Earth in civilian attire when he comes upon a costumed individual seemingly in a state of danger. Scott "rescues" the man, and learns that he is actually Thaddeus Brown - an escape artist known as Mister Miracle, who is practicing a new feat with his partner, Oberon.
Meanwhile, a criminal known as Steel Hand - division chief of Intergang, sets out to assassinate Thaddeus Brown. They succeed in shooting Brown with a sniper rifle while practicing for his most dangerous stunt to date. As Brown dies, Scott Free takes up his costume and uses his own alien technology to become the new Mister Miracle.
Steel Hand captures Mister Miracle and chains him to a missile, but Scott Free uses his various gadgets to escape. He disables Steel Hand's prosthetic limb with sound waves, then binds the criminal in a collapsible cocoon and hands him over to the authorities.
