Mira Furlan is a film and television actress born in the city of Zagreb in the Republic of Croatia on September 7th, 1955. She distinguished herself in various film projects in her native country, but is best known to North American and UK audiences for her role as the alien ambassador Delenn on the science fiction television series Babylon 5. Furlan was introduced in the series' pilot episode "Midnight on the Firing Line" and appeared in all 110 episodes of the series. Furlan reprised the role of Delenn for the spin-off telemovies Babylon 5: The Gathering, Babylon 5: In the Beginning and Babylon 5: Thirdspace.
Regarding her work on Babylon 5, Mira has remarked:
Ambassador Delenn is an extraordinary character. She combines so many different traits. She's tough, but vulnerable... She's strong, but feminine... She's a pacifist, but can be militaristic... She has depth and spirituality, but can be funny and light at times... So yes, I think she's a great role model - not only for women - but for everyone. [1]
From 2004 to 2010, Mira played a character named Danielle Rousseau on the J.J. Abrams-helmed smash series Lost. She appeared in eighteen episodes of the program beginning with the ninth episode of season nine, "Solitary".
