The Midvale Orphanage is a fictional location featured in comic book titles published by DC Comics. It was featured primarily in the continuity of the Pre-Crisis Earth-One (Silver Age) reality and first appeared in the third story from Action Comics #252 called "The Supergirl from Krypton", which was also the first appearance of Supergirl.
The Midvale Orphanage was a childrens' founding home located in the town of Midvale, which was a neighborhood in Metropolis.
After arriving on Earth, Kara Zor-El was placed at the Midvale Orphanage by her Kryptonian cousin Superman. He gave her a rudimentary disguise and provided her with the human alias Linda Lee. In times of need, Kara would shirk her pig-tailed wig and don the costume of Supergirl to aid her more infamous cousin on his various adventures.
