Metallo Metallo is the code name attributed to at least two different individuals featured in comic book issues published by DC Comics as well as their various alternate reality and alternate media variants. The character has been traditionally presented as a cyborg with a Kryptonite-powered heart and is a foe of Superman. The original Metallo was John Corben who made a single appearance in Action Comics #252 in 1959. He was succeeded by his brother, Roger Corben, who debuted in the pages of Superman #310 in April, 1977. Both iterations of the character were part of the Silver Age Pre-Crisis Earth-One continuity, which was removed from existance following the events of the 1985-1986 maxi-series event Crisis on Infinite Earths. In the reformatted reality following these events, the character was re-imagined for modern readers and was re-introduced in Superman, Volume 2 #1. |
