History[]
More than twenty-thousand years ago, a race of immortals known as the Blood waged war against a soul-stealing demon known as Zarathos. They allied themselves with the Spirits of Vengeance and created the mystical Medallion of Power, which they used to house the combined power of the spirits. They succeeded in trapping a portion of Zarathos' own essence inside the medallion. The Blood decreed that the medallion was too powerful to remain intact, so it was broken up into many shards and placed into the spiritual bloodlines of two families, both of which would be overseen and protected by a Blood known only as the Caretaker.
One of the Spirits of Vengeance contained within the Medallion of Power shard was Noble Kale. The medallion eventually came into the possession of one of his own descendants, a young man named Danny Ketch. The Medallion was disguised as the gas cap to a motorcycle that Ketch found at Gallagher's Junkyard in Cypress Hills. When Ketch started up the cycle, it activated the medallion, bonding Noble Kale's spirit with him, thus turning him into the physical host for the Spirit of Vengeance - the Ghost Rider.
