Meatmarket is a fictional demon and a secondary antagonist featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is associated with the "Midnight Sons" line of titles and first appeared in Ghost Rider, Volume 3 #28 in August, 1992.
Biography[]
Meatmarket was a being of demonic heritage. He was a child of Lilith, Mother of Demons and a member of her brood known as the Lilin. Meatmarket was one of the more grotesque members of the Lilin. He was monstrously huge, very strong and took sadistic pleasure in flaying and killing his victims. Meatmarket was devoutly loyal to Lilith and always willing to please her in any way possible. He offered tribute to Lilith by hunting a hanging a man named Justin Hoyt - simply to please her. He also made a skin parchment which had faces drawn upon it representing the Mystic Nine - those who stood as a threat against Lilith.
Lilith sent Meatmarket out to procure the skull of Frank Drake as well as any who would aid him. Doing so brought Meatmarket into contact with Frank's allies, Blade and Hannibal King. Hannibal King - a vampire, sent a horde of rats to gnaw and torment Meatmarket. While he was distracted dispatching the rodents, Blade came up behind him and cut his head off with a katana. The sorcerer Doctor Strange sent it back to Lilith.
