Mayor is a government title for one who serves as the authoritative and legislative leader of a municipality, such as a city, township or village. The Mayor is an elected official and administers over the actions of a city council. Mayors usually appoint a city manager, who is charged with executive decisions concerning existing or pending laws. Mayors are usually humans, but depending upon the municipality in question, there have been known to be extraterrestrial and mutant mayors. In at least one bizarre example, a cheeseburger once served as Mayor of a place called McDonaldland.
