The Mayfair Witches is an American live-action television series of the supernatural drama subgenre of horror with an emphasis on witchcraft. It is based on the Lives of the Mayfair Witches series of novels written by author Anne Rice, which debuted in 1990 with her book The Witching Hour, and continued in Lasher in 1993 and Taltos in 1994, as well as crossover works with Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. The story follows the character of Rowan Fielding - a very successful neurosurgeon living in San Francisco, who comes to discover that she is the last in a long line of powerful witches from New Orleans. The series was developed for television by Esta Spalding & Michelle Ashford and produced by AMC Studios and Gran Via Productions. An order of eight episodes was produced for season one of the show, which began airing on AMC and AMC+ for subscribers on January 8th, 2023. The show stars Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding with Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, Jack Huston as the enigmatic Lasher, and Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair.
