Maurice Hurley was the head writer and co-executive producer of the initial seasons for the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was the central writer behind most of the episodes featured and season one and became a producer with season two. Hurley eventually left the series due to creative differences with executive producer and series creator Gene Roddenberry.
