"The Way the World Winds Down" is the forty-third issue of the Marvel Two-In-One ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics. It was written by Ralph Macchio with artwork and inks by John Byrne & "Friends". It was colored by Phil Rachelson and lettered by Bruce Patterson. The story was edited by Roger Stern. This issue shipped with a September, 1978 cover date and carries a cover price of .35 cents per copy.

- The Fantastic Four were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. They first appeared in Fantastic Four, Volume 1 #1 in November, 1961. By and large, the roster of the Fantastic Four has remained the same over the years, consisting of Reed Richards as Mister Fantastic, Susan Storm as the Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm as the Human Torch and Ben Grimm as the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing. Occasional transitory members of the FF have included Crystal Amaquelin, Luke Cage, Scott Lang, and T'Challa.
- The character of Ted Sallis, aka the Man-Thing was created by writers Roy Thomas & Gerry Conway and artist Gray Morrow. He first appeared in the third story in Savage Tales #1 in May, 1971. Most of the early Man-Thing stories following his inaugural appearance were written by Steve Gerber.
- The character of Captain America was created by writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby. He was introduced in the pages of Captain America Comics #1, published by Timely Comics in March, 1941.
