Marti Gaines is a fictional college student & partier and part of an ensemble cast featured in the 1981 horror movie Hell Night. She was played by actress Linda Blair in the film.
Biography[]
Marti Gaines was a young woman who attended college in the early 1980s. She came from a low-income family and her father was a mechanic. As such, she learned a great deal about auto-mechanics. In 1981, she attended a party hosted by the Alpha Sigma Rho fraternity. Fraternity president Peter Bennett had an annual hazing ritual in which all new pledges were required to spend an entire evening in the allegedly haunted Garth Manor.
Marti attended the hazing ritual along with a student named Seth, Jeff Reed, and Denise Dunsmore. Throughout the evening, elder members of the fraternity tried spooking them by way of pre-arranged gimmicks such as sound recordings, ghostly holographic images and such. What no one was aware of however, was that two disfigured and psychotic siblings of the Garth family named Morris and Andrew were living in the tunnels that ran beneath the house.
Andrew and Morris attacked and murdered all of the pledges as well as several of the other Alpha Sigma Rho associates, leaving only Marti to fight for her life by herself. Escaping from the house, she drove a car that had been stolen by Seth through the spike iron gates, turning them laterally. Andrew Garth leaped upon the car to attack Marti. She rammed the vehicle into the twisted gate, and Andrew was impaled on the spikes.
