Marla Bloom is a fictional film producer and a supporting character featured in comic book titles published by DC Comics. She was regularly featured in the Blue Devil comic series, which was published from 1984 to 1986. Marla Bloom was introduced in a Blue Devil preview story in the back of The Fury of Firestorm the Nuclear Man #24.
Biography[]
Marla Bloom was a successful Hollywood film producer. She was the aunt of Eddie Bloomberg, who often worked on her movie sets as a gopher. One of Marla's most notable employees was special effects technician Dan Cassidy, who designed the Blue Devil exoskeleton, which was to be used in her films. [2]
Marla brought her crew to the Ile Du Diable, where they were to film her next picture. Cast members from the film explored a cave where they discovered an ancient artifact. They unwittingly released a demon named Nebiros, who began attacking the production crew. In the ensuing chaos, Nebiros struck Dan Cassidy with an occult blast, fusing him inside of his Blue Devil costume. Marla criticized actor Wayne Tarrant for fleeing from the vicinity, calling his bravery into question. [3]
Years later, Marla Bloom flew across a remote bluff in the hopes of capturing some ideal stock footage. Her location brought her close to a power plant that had only recently been destroyed by Blue Devil. Unable to see because of the loss of power, their helicopter collided with a power transformer and exploded. Blue Devil soon heard the news and fell into a state of shock. Eddie Bloomberg took the news of her passing extremely hard. [4]
