Margus is a fictional comic book character and a foe of the Marvel Comics superhero, Thor. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, he first appeared in Journey Into Mystery, Volume 1 #83 in August, 1962.
Biography[]
Margus was a Kronan - a silicon-based sentient being from the planet Saturn. He was part of a three-person scouting party that came to Earth many years ago with the intent of surveying the planet to see if it was ripe for conquest. The difference in gravity and Earth's oxygen-rich atmosphere made them formidable opponents, capable of great feats of strength and endurance. The Kronans touched down in the mountains of Norway many years ago.
Their scouting expedition took an unexpected turn however, when they found the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor, ready to defend planet Earth. They dropped a metal cage over top of him, hoping that it would contain him, but Thor easily tore through it with his god-like strength. Their next tactic involved unleashing the robotic Mechano-Monster upon him, but this too proved to be a fruitless effort.
Fearing that all Earthlings possessed power such as Thor, the Kronans gave up their plans of conquest and journeyed back to Saturn. [1]
As their fleet fled back to their homeworld, the ship that held Korg, Margus, and several other Kroanan soldiers, drifted off-course and was pulled into a mysterious wormhole, crashlanding on the harsh desert world of Sakaar. Korg and Margus were enslaved by the Sakaar Empire. They were separated while being trained for gladiatorial combat.
Korg was placed on the same team as the Hulk, who has also ended up enslaved on Sakaar after being exiled from Earth. In his first battle at the arena Korg had to kill Margus. [can we get a frakkin' citation here?!]

- The character of Margus was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby.
- A version of Margus also appeared in the 2010 animated movie Planet Hulk. He was one of the mentally controlled Kronans forced to participate in gladiatorial combat on Sakaar. Margus killed Lavin Skee in the movie, forcing his fellow Kronan Korg to ultimately bring him down.
