Mar Vista is a neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles, California. In 1927, Mar Vista became the 70th community to be annexed to Los Angeles. It was designated as an official city neighborhood in 2006.

In May, 1981, this home was the site of a mass murder committed by escaped psychopath Russ Thorn. Russ killed 11 people one evening, including a basketball coach, a lineperson, a pizza boy, a neighbor, and 7 high school students.
