"Prototype" is the premiere episode of the science fiction crime-drama series Mann & Machine and the first episode of the series overall. It was directed by Vern Gillum with a script written by series creators Robert De Laurentiis and Dick Wolf. The series stars David Andrews as Detective Bobby Mann, Yancy Butler as Sergeant Eve Edison and S. Epatha Merkerson as Captain Margaret Claghorn. It first aired on NBC on April 5th, 1992.
