"The Killer Spores" is a television movie and the third of four pilot episodes that preceded the regular Man from Atlantis television series that aired on NBC from 1977 to 1978. The movie first aired on May 17th, 1977 and followed the events of the Man from Atlantis: The Death Scouts film. It is followed by Man from Atlantis: The Disappearances, which also premiered in 1977. The telemovie was directed by Reza Badiyi and written by John D.F. Black. It stars Patrick Duffy as amphibian hero Mark Harris with Belinda Montgomery as Foundation for Oceanic Research scientist Doctor Elizabeth Merrill. Also starring in the film is Alan Fudge as C.W. Crawford, as well as Kenneth Tigar reprising his role as Doctor Miller Simon. Other stars include Brian Baker, Fred Beir, Ivan Bonar and James Sikking.

- Second of three appearances in the series of Kenneth Tigar as Doctor Miller Simon.
- Third of four appearances of Michael J. London in the series. He appears in all four television movies. In this installment he is once again seen as a crewmember on the Foundation for Oceanic Research submarine, but did not receive an on screen credit.
- This story was loosely adapted into Marvel Comics fourth issue of their Man from Atlantis comic book series, also titled The Killer Spores. However, this version included elements from TV series such as Jomo the helmsman and provided an explanation for the absence of Dr. Miller Simon in the TV series by stating that he had been reassigned.
